We welcome film & photo shoots at Cookhouse.

Here’s what’s included with a reservation:

Space

Exclusive use of the full venue, which includes a large residential kitchen, high ceilings, large windows, and a balcony.

Setup

Your requested room layout is set up prior to your start time. Most shoots request that as much furniture be put away as possible, but there are plenty of furniture options. View example layouts here.

Surfaces

Calacatta Gold island waterfall counter, Brazilian Black Sandstone waterfall counters and table, Claro and Eastern Black Walnut surfaces, Carerra marble steps, round glass tables, white brick walls, and a funky floor from the 70s provide a choice of backdrops.

Light

We get tons of natural light through our skylights and large windows, but direct light doesn’t enter the kitchen during any season. All room lights, except kitchen work lights, are on dimmers, and oil-wick candles are included. We know that natural light can be helpful or a hindrance depending on the shoot, so feel free to visit during an open house to assess your equipment needs. Electrical

Outlets are located all throughout the room.

Stocked items

Plenty of cookware, tableware, and beautiful accessories are available to use as props if desired. Rentals are available as well. Let us know if you’d like to view our collection.

We’ve got classic San Francisco covered, with a location overlooking Jack Kerouac Alley, on top of Vesuvio, across the alley from City Lights Bookstore, with views of Coit Tower and the colorful lights on Broadway from the interior, and Zoetrope and the Transamerica Pyramid viewable from the balcony.

Time 

You may book any time between 6:00am-11:30pm. Full day shoots are 8 hours. Half day shoots are 4 hours.

Capacity

For photo and film shoots, our maximum capacity is 15 people total onsite. Parties and events that are being filmed or photographed are not considered shoots.

Clean up

We know your project requires a lot of work, coordination, and time on your feet. Clean up after your shoot is included, so you can go home and put your feet up!

Half Day: $950, 4 hours prior to 2pm.

Full Day: $1950, 8 hours.

Optional Additions

Staffing (+$75/hr each)

Many shoots require one or two Cookhouse event assistants to help load in, organize props, move furniture, or keep spick and span between takes. Request staff at least 14 days in advance.

Prior Day Load-In (+$1450)

Up to 2 hours of load-in and/or set up time the day before your shoot. Next day load-out/breakdown is the same rate. Check with us as soon as possible if you’ll need either, as availability will depend on already-booked reservations.

Beverages (as opened)

Pre-stocked and pre-chilled beverages for your crew, charged only as opened on your final bill. No need to lug more stuff in! Filtered water and ice are onsite and available for use, no charge.
