Weddings at Cookhouse

 

It's gonna be gorgeous

Here are some things to know in advance to help you plan your upcoming celebration!


planning

We can refer you to wonderful vendors - chefs, sommeliers, florists, stylists, and photographers - after you book a date. We offer consultations and onsite meetings ($55-$85/hr). Consultations and custom coordination cover our guidance for any of the following:

  • Choice of furniture layout
  • Flow of event
  • EA timing and instruction coordination
  • Budgeting
  • Choice of vendors
  • Choice of rentals, in-house or from outside vendors
  • Coordination of rentals from outside vendors

In addition, complimentary visits are available during an "open invite" Venue Tour once per week for you to come and see the space, plan with your friends, coordinators, and/or chefs, taste a different wine per each Venue Tour, and ask us questions.

Full Day wedding package

We offer a simplified package for dates January-November for $3900 that covers most wedding needs. This full-day rate includes:

  1. Reservation from 12pm-10pm
  2. One hour consultation, onsite or by phone
  3. One EA for 5 hours

You may request additional reservation time, consultation or coordination, or EAs to add to the full day package. Please inquire if you'd like to add these options.

Note: A full-day wedding package is not required if you are reserving Cookhouse for your wedding.

 


Food & Beverages

You're welcome to bring your favorite caterer, chef, or cook with your friends! This is a kitchen with all residential equipment, pots, and pans, so there isn't anything that needs special instruction to use (well, maybe except the steam oven).

Don't know where to start for food? Think about whether you'd like to hire a caterer/chef and staff and servers, or something more casual such as drop-off catering (one of our favorite rehearsal dinners simply had Tony's Pizza and Italian wines from our selection). If you're not sure, feel free to schedule a 10-minute brainstorming call with one of our team, or email us to get invited to a Venue Tour where we can show you past menus for inspiration.

Make sure that you provide a full and substantial meal (that is, not just crackers and cheese, or cupcakes and candy) if alcoholic beverages are being consumed.

Gonna make a toast? Feel free to pre-order bubbly! Plan to do so at least 14 days in advance, so that we can order the correct amount and make sure it's chilled. Budget about 4.5 glasses per bottle, so if you have 20 guests, you'll need four bottles for each guest to have a glass for the toast, but you can pre-order five or six in case some want another glass! You're only charged for what you open (so don't open them all at the start).


Decorating

Cookhouse is a blank slate, ready for your creative ideas! Fill it with flowers, pick some bright linens, or create a backdrop for an easy DIY photo booth.

Want to go for the bare minimum? Bring in some flowers from the market! We've got vases you can use.

We also have florists, stylists, and stationers we can recommend who are familiar with Cookhouse, and we can send you diagrams so that you can work with them using an illustration of the furniture layout (which can determine the number and sizes of the vases, menus, etc.).

Layout

Many types of layouts are available! Please let us know whether you plan for a reception-style (guests mostly standing, but there will be plenty of chairs for when they'd like to rest) or a seated event, and we'll send you some suggested layouts based on the number of guests, time of day, and format of the meal. 

Please note that we can seat a maximum of 30 guests at a single long table.

Cleaning Up

When your reservation is finished, please scrape food into the compost bin and stack dishes neatly in the sink by size. Collect flatware and leave them in a sink container we'll provide for you. 

Feel free to leave the rest of the clean-up to us! Just make sure you take any equipment or items you'll want to keep, as we are very limited on storage space and generally don't keep leftover items after an event.

We hate to waste food! Feel free to ask for our to-go containers for your leftovers so that you and your friends can take food home. We keep them in the office.

If you hired a florist, please check with them whether or not the price of the vases is included in their quote; if so, you and your guests can take the arrangements home to enjoy.

A few more helpful hints

A/V is included. Just plug in your device! We have video and audio adaptors for iPhone and Macbooks, and the cable is VGA which is compatible with many PCs, but bring your own adaptor if your laptop or phone is a little more unique. Regarding video or slideshows, we have a great big projector and screen, though sometimes on very bright days it can be hard to see - make sure to use large fonts for text and contrasting colors if you have a daytime reservation.

Please make sure to budget in time for loading in, decorating and prepping, and loading out.

Are other friends or event vendors helping you to coordinate the shower? Do share our terms and planning resources with them, so that everyone's on the same page - this will avoid surprise situations the day of your event and help it to run smoothly.
